Stress Echocardiogram
A Stress echocardiogram, also called a stress echo, is a test that uses sound waves to show mov- ing pictures of your heart. The pictures are recorded while your heart is at rest and then after stress when your heart beats faster. The sound waves are from an ultrasound probe. The sounds bounce back to the probe to create pictures of your heart on a screen. The test will show if there are parts of your heart that may not be getting enough blood and oxygen because of blocked arteries, a type of blood vessels.
How should I prepare for the test?
- Do not eat for 4 hours before your test. You may have small sips of water but no other drinks or food.
- Take your medicines with sips of water only. If you are taking heart medicines, check with your doctor whether you should take those before the test.
- Wear tennis shoes or other good walking shoes and comfortable clothes, if on treadmill.

Eco Cardiograma de Fatiga
Un Eco Cardiograma, tambien llamado Eco de Fatiga, es una prueba que usa ondas de sonido para mostrar imagines de su Corazón. Las images son grabadas mientras que su corazón esta en descanso y luego bajo fatiga cuando su Corazon late mas rapido. Las ondas de sonido rebo- tan de regreso a la sonda de ultrasonido, y estas crean las imagenes en la pantalla. La prueba nos mostrara que partes, si algunas, no estan recibiendo suficiente sangre y oxigeno a causa de arterias bloqueadas.
¿Como debo prepararme para la prueba?
- No coma 4 horas antes de su prueba. Puede tener pequeños sorbos de aqua pero no comida ni bebidas.
- TTome sus medicinas con pequeños sorbos de agua solamente. Si esta tomando sus medici- nas del corazón, preguntele al doctor si puede tomar estas medicinas.
- Use tennis u otros zapatos confortables.
